Position Overview:
The Goshen Central School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Spanish Teacher for a full-time probationary appointment at Goshen High School. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for world languages and cultures, a commitment to engaging and effective instruction, and a dedication to fostering global citizenship in all students.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Spanish language instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for World Languages (Grades 7–12).
- Foster the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Spanish.
- Integrate cultural perspectives, practices, and products of Spanish-speaking communities into instruction.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to promote growth.
- Utilize technology and digital resources to enhance language learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the World Languages Department and across disciplines.
- Maintain accurate records, attendance, and grading in accordance with district policies.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and administrators.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to a positive school culture.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Valid NYS Certification in Spanish 7–12
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or related field
- Strong command of the Spanish language and familiarity with cultural contexts
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Education or Spanish
- Experience teaching Spanish at the secondary level
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Effective classroom management and interpersonal skills
