Bilingual Teacher Aide

BILINGUAL TEACHER AIDE - 10 Month position, $24.96 hourly

This is non-professional work involving responsibility for assisting school teachers in the performance of their non-teaching duties through a variety of activities related to the learning process. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a certified teacher, administrator, or a senior official in accordance with well-established procedures. The incumbent does related work as required.


TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Works with small groups of children reviewing repetitive classwork;
  • Corrects papers and records grades under the direction of a teacher;
  • Accompanies and supervises students in school activities such as assemblies, field trips, playground, cafeteria, and other settings;
  • Assists with arrangements and preparations for science demonstrations, music and art classes, and audio-visual presentations;
  • Proctors and assists in the administration of various tests;
  • Performs clerical duties related to teaching activities, including typing, copying, filing, preparing instructional materials, maintaining classroom records and attendance;
  • Assists in crisis intervention and classroom management as directed;
  • Assists children with disabilities in maintaining a normal school routine, including bus arrivals and departures, cafeteria assistance, toileting, evacuation drills, and lifting/carrying when necessary;
  • Arranges parent conferences under the direction of the teacher;
  • Relieves classroom teachers for emergencies and meetings as needed;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Good knowledge of classroom procedures and basic teaching methods;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and parents;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
  • Ability to maintain discipline in accordance with established policies;
  • Ability to perform clerical tasks accurately;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and district information;
  • Patience, dependability, good judgment, and professional demeanor;
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Substitute Custodial Worker

SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIAL WORKER

SALARY: $16.00/hour

LOCATION: DISTRICT WIDE

Hours per week: not to exceed 29 hrs.

Available all shifts during the school year.

This work involves routine building cleaning and occasional minor maintenance tasks. Cleaning tasks are performed according to well-defined procedures and maintenance tasks are performed under direct supervision or according to specific instructions. Supervision is received from a Head Custodian or Custodian. Duties involve cleaning and light maintenance of district facilities, grounds and other related work as required.
